Default Taking off hitch.

I currently have a hitch on my truck. I don't use it for anything. It is only bothering me, rather than helping me because it is very rusted and ugly, and it is also just an extra weight on the truck. So i went 2 my mechanic 2day, 2 see if he could take it off. He said that he could do it, but that i need the rear bumper brackets. I have searched online, and i can't find any rear bumper brackets. Does my 1996 Blazer have rear bumper brackets, or are they called something else?

can you take a pic? I might be interested in the reciever if its 2". I didnt think bumper brackets had anything to do with frame mounted recievers. i know LMC will have the parts but check eBay first.

See, I put a hitch on my 2001 and it required me to mount the hitch between the frame and the bumper brackets, I actually had to briefly unbolt the rear bumper during installation.. It was the same way on my ranger. I would suggest going to a junkyard and taking the brackets off of a wrecked or slavaged blazer of similar year and model. It would be a heck of a lot cheaper than getting new ones.
