Default Temp gauge doesnt work

My temp. gague is not working on my 1988 chevy blazer s10 2.8. Also when i turn on the ignition, the oil gague shoots to the top and stays there. Please help

Sounds like you need a new coolant temp sending unit and possibly have a grounded out wire on the oil pressure sending unit.

where are these sending units located at. I have two books that explain the problems but nothing on how to fix it or where the units are at.

The coolant temperature sensor will be located in one of the cylinder heads. The oil pressure sending unit is located at the back of the engine near the distributor.
