I was saying if you're set on going Mopar, why not get a Challenger or Charger. I'm aware they fall under the mopar umbrella . Thanks for the old timer clarification though. You know all that happened before I was born, so it's good to have an old timer like you come in and help me out
it was before my time too brother. FYI, my Dart is 2 yrs older than me.

but i'm still glad i could *ahem* "set you straight".

hmmm..........i'm gonna have to disagree with you on that one, since your "starting" year is more like the begining of the end.

what about a '64 Goat? is that not considered the "start" of the "modern" muscle cars?

while this may be considered the "begining" of the muscle wars, a lot of people say it started with the Oldsmobile Rocket 88 in '49 followed by the Hudson Hornet. there are also numerous other cars in the 50's that helped contribute, like the C-300 from Chrysler in '55, and the Rambler Rebel in '57. arguably the fastest NA production car @ the time. Mopar & Ford battled all throughout the early 60's @ the strip & ovals (that's drag strip and NASCAR for those that didn't know). and by '65 all of Chevy's divisions had joined the game-even AMC had something to contribute. so by '67, pretty much the whole deal was in full swing, and only a short few years later, the EPA kinda killed it all for them. although Dodge, Plymouth, and Chrysler were the last ones to finally accept defeat by them in the mid-70's, it wouldn't be until the early 90's that the "muscle cars" would pop up again.

but even the term "muscle cars" kinda died with them in the 70's, i'd be more apt to call the recent ones "performance cars".

Well I don't know if the car will be up for a "restoration", maybe later on down the road. Its main purpose will be to get me places, fast. So long as said places are in a straight line haha. I'm definitely going to have to agree with old skool, the muscle car production began long before the '60s and gradually got better, until the '70s when the producers began getting slapped with smog restrictions (sooo lame). All in all I would just like to have a nice early A body mopar, small car + big motor + young kid = definitely sets me up for some fun.

Alot of dead kids in the 70's, and I think probably alot to do with why there are so few of the super fast Mopars around anymore. Im not the preaching type tho, I'd just strongly suggest you find a dragstrip nearby, and enjoy the cruise factor of an old muscle car while driving on the streets.

Yea I'm generally a pretty smart kid for my age, at least I like to think so.

Yea that tends to be a problem when the dumber of the generation get behind the wheel of something they can't control and are worried about showing off in. Just want to street cruise take it to meets and what not. California Speedway is 5 miles if that from my house and they have a quarter mile drag strip, although it's only open about once a month. There is also Irwindale Speedway within driving distance which has an 1/8 Mile drag strip and they are open every Thursday for street legal test and tune night, starts around 5 runs til about 11 if I remember correctly.

I still say that my 02 Z28 is a muscle car...
LS1 all aluminum V8 that I currently have putting out 425HP, 6 speed manual tranny, 3:42 Torsion locking rear end... It will spank pretty much anything on the street and pass a smog test.
To me any year model V8 Camaro, Mustang, Challenger, Corvette, etc... is a muscle car... What are we gonna call the newer ones in 20 or 30 years?

Ah wrong wrong wrong.. just because you beat what's in your area doesn't mean it will beat everything on the street lol. A STOCK hemi would put out 425hp as Dodge used to advertise, but more recent dyno tests showed they were a little low with their rating . Also that's the perk of owning a true muscle car, don't have to deal with smog crap, pay your registration and drive along haha.
