Toss Them Auto Hubs!

Toss Them Auto Hubs!
Even if they work all the time. Here is why I say this.
By the time I knew something was wrong it was all over. All I knew to do with it was pull it back over as it was leaning hard, then brace it up temporarily. My auto hubs had diff plans though. They decided not to lock in and the car could not get the job done. So over she went. The roof was 33x18 and insurance only covered half of replacement. So this set of auto hubs cost me $1500+. Is this all it takes for every auto hub to be in the landfill yet? I sure hope so, cause otherwise why have a 4x4!? Just got my warn premiums in the mail today. $81 could have saved me $1500 if I would have done it sooner.

Sorry about your loss, but like most people will say, the time to test mechanical equipment is not when you need it....auto hubs fail not because of design but because of maintenance.again sorry for the loss..

Auto hubs are the way to go, at least for me, last month we got a lot of rain, i was on my way home with a friend following me, well i live about two miles down a dirt road in south Georgia, the road was mostly under water and muddy and slick, it got so bad i put it in four low, just mashed the button and off i went. Looking in my rear view i watched my friend stop his truck, get out in the rain and mud and locked the driver side in and then the passenger, i know he was not a happy camper getting in his nice clean, at least was, truck, but this is just my opinion, to each his own.

I would love to have kept my auto hubs had they worked. This is only my second 4x4. The first was a explorer. It was nice to just push the button or pull the lever. This is why I wanted to keep them. But the one time they failed when I really needed them is enough for me to have a change of heart. In my case I would have loved to get out and lock them in. It would have saved me from the huge loss I just took.

one of the first things i always threw away when i bought k5 blazers, i have seen them fail time after time off road, even if they didnt fail they were un predictable where they would disengage and reengage at random. i love the dials, just turn them and you are good to go
