Default Tranny Problem

I have a 2000 S10 Blazer with 188,000 miles on it. My tranny slips out of gear while in drive, but is ok while in second or low. Do you think I have a valve in the tranny that has gone out or do you think that I'm looking at a complete rebuild job? Thanks for any help.

What gear is it in when it slips? Does it hold fine in 1st and 2nd regardless of shifter position, but slips in 3rd and/or 4th (OD)? Or does it slip in all gears when in Drive (3) or Overdrive (OD)?

It only slips in Drive and 3. No problems in 2 or Low.

But is that in relation to the shifter position or the actual gear that the transmission is in...?
