General ChatChat about all things Blazer (and related vehicles). Off-topic stuff should be in the lounge, and all mechanical problems should be posted in the proper forum.
I used my Blazer to haul my tools, jack and jack-stands to a girl-friend's place to help her get a 2000 Sunfire running that had been sitting for over a year.
I learned some interesting stuff about the 2.4L LD9 engine: DOHC, 150 hp, 150 lb-ft torqe, variable valve timing, timing-chain (not belt), no dipstick for the AT, water-pump replacement can mean almost taking the engine out, and the connectors between each of the coils for each plug is connected on my springs under compression rather than snapping on.
This last part was weird. Straddling the valve covers for each cam, there is a single cover under which is attached the single component that encloses the coils for each spark plug. When you install it, you line it up and press down. I kept expecting a clicking of the spark plug connectors but never heard it. After struggling with it, I took a closer look and realized that the connection between the coils and the top of the plugs is a spring under compression within a rubber boot.
It all started up fine but I did get the wrong oil filter which meant going back to the parts store. D'oh!
The spark plug coils are under the metal cover that has the logo "2.4L Twin Cam." It runs down the center of the cover and presses down on to the top of the plugs.
So today I went and picked up some tubing to remake some control sticks for my amphibious 6x6. I loaded it into by Blazer the way I do a lot of long skinny objects; along the passenger side through the gap between the seat belt and the side pillars. Works great as it keeps it from moving around while driving.
On my way home I stopped at a local produce store to pick up some things, and got a watermelon while I was at it because this little store has hands down the BEST watermelon
So the kid working there helps me out, same one that's worked there a while and he's helped me before, so he grabs the watermelon off the shelf and brings it out to the Blazer for me.
As soon as he sees the Blazer, he says "oh yeah I remember you, I remember this Blazer, I've helped you out before!", which is true because last time he helped me out we talked about S10 stuff for a little while because he drives an S10 lol.
So I open the door, and as he goes to lean in and put the watermelon in the truck, he no lie says "wow is that a roll cage?!?!"
A couple nights ago I found a high spot to look at the comet. I set up my small telescope in the back with the lift-gate open.
My pictures were take with my phone camera held up to the eye-piece so that they are no where near as nice as most you have seen but here is one anyway.

I just bought my 99 jimmy back in March for a walk away price of $600.Was well maintained was owned by a dude who owns a store where I live.I have been slowly replacing the everyday wear and tear parts.Just replaced upper/lower ball joints, upper control arms, and the cv shaft axle that was ripped when when I bought it and didn't catch it.Now it needs in the rear sway bar links, shackles, and leaf spring brackets. The truck runs good but needs 2 o2 sensors replaced. It all sounds like the truck is junk but is not.198,000 miles and all highway cause its where the guy has family and made 2 to3 trips a year to Philadelphia.Anyhow what can I use to to lift the truck front and back about 2 inches maybe 3?I notice how the rear is somewhat higher then the front.Told there is a reason for this.Is there specifics on how high I can lift it?and a way it has to sit?
I used my Blazer to tow my sailboat to Lake Coeur d'Alene to go sailing for several days. The drive is about 120 miles round-trip with many steep hills. With the upgraded radiator and brakes, everything worked great.
Map of Lake Coeur d'Alene. We sailed on the southern half.
My boat is the blue one. The other two sailboats belong to fellow sailing friends. Taken at Windy Bay Boater Park run by the BLM.
