Drove our 78 K5 yesterday for an extended test drive after nearly 2 months down for major trans related work.

That was the first time in 20 years I recall it actually being enjoyable to drive! Perfect clutch, starter and nice quiet exhaust! Stopping the exhaust leaks really smoothed the engine out, better accel on the highway.

Its rebuilt from one end to the other including a total rebuild of the AC system.

Now if I could just find a good body shop to finish the restoration...

Did a 300km trip to pick up my winter rims, been trying to get these since I bought the truck. 150$ for the rims, 50$ for the caps.

it was 2 different stops, 1st guy was a younger guy who had an 01 sonoma with 80xxxkm on it, bought it with 43xxxkm, he had the center caps. 2nd was an older lad, had an 03 s10, was trying to get me to buy his tunneau cover and interior floor carpet(brand new in box), we had a good conversation about his old car collection and rebuilds hes done, he had the rims.

now I need a 16" rim for a spare and I'll be good, and the wife needs a matching one for her summers, and shes going to use the 5 winter rims I had for the blazer.

Took my Blazer on an overnight fishing trip to the woods. Got a late start on Saturday and got back home Sunday about 7:30. It is about a 2-2.5 hour drive to my destination for my favorite cutthroat trout stream.

I hadn't gone in years so it was nice to wet a line. I hooked 6 and "landed" (catch and release) 5. One was 15 1/4" long and on my fly-line was a great fighter!

No pics of the fish since risking my phone going for a swim is not something I want to do but I do have pics of the drive. (And those from the driver's seat were with the truck stopped!)

And no, I won't tell you the location of my fishin' holes! Only for close friends and and family.

Driving up from the back side of the divide so to come down on the upstream end of my stream. This was obviously logged recently. The area is a patchwork of National Forest and private timber company. Something that I'm not quite sure to make of is that the company is starting to lease and sell off small parcels next to the stream for private use so that no one else can use them like the way it use to be.

Getting close to the top!

Over the top and starting to come down. The little yellow sign is a National Forest boundary marker. (That's a clue to where I am! )

First stop. Thought this was going to be a new, totally secret hidey-hole since to get there took some bush-wacking from the road. But of course I found a footprint in the sand! LOL I finally connected with some fish at the upper end of this segment. They were in the 11" to 12" range and chunky.

A visitor! It ducked into the water to get at some nymphs.

Looking downstream from my supposed "hidey-hole." Pretty, isn't it?

Camp. I slept in the back. And my back, kept reminding me that I forgot my sleeping mat. LOL

Remnant of a splash dam. The area was logged out about 100 years ago.

Looking upstream of one of the areas I fished. The elevation drop is 240 feet. Climbing back out, it felt like 600! LOL

Looking downstream to one of the places I fished. The "creek" is about 20-30 yards across and in some places perhaps just wadeable. The rocks are slippery and just big enough that you can slide off of them when wading. The trick is to only walk where the rocks (all rounded) are no more than about 4" across.

I took my Blazer on a scouting trip in the general area I do my deer hunting. I also brought along my .22LR/20ga gun for a little grouse hunting. No grouse but I did get to go up some roads that are normally gated during my deer hunting times. Found some cool views too!

A cool little saddle.

Further along to the right of the saddle. The road ended about where I was standing.

Another small back road along a ridgeline.

A view from a view spot. I was careful to only park over bare ground.

Leaving the panorama spot. There was a very steep spot just where the road disappears.

Some of the local "slow elk" that graze the lower meadows of the area. During the summer it is a very bad idea to drive these roads very fast, especially at night.

That's nuts about the bolts coming out. I've never had that happen. Do you tighten them with a torque wrench? Perhaps some Locktite is necessary?
