The problem with their test is some places will be like "what is the problem with the alt" and you will describe the problem, so they will only test the specific areas that could be that problem. When I bring an alt in, and they ask what the problem is.. I tell them i just want to get it tested just for a piece of mind, it gets tested under every condition, and then ask them to do it 2 more times, just to be sure.

For instance, when I brought my ICM in (ignition control module) they were like "what problems are you having indicating what it could be" I said "there is something, but I want it tested for everything" so I had them test it for everything and it failed. Then I was like "for fun, lets have it tested just for the specific problem I am having" and it passed...

AutoZone pulled this on us with an alternator with a bad diode, then refused to warranty it. I sent the wife down to have it replaced ... so not sure what she told them.

I came out one winter to find my brand spankin' new battery was stone cold dead after the car was sitting just 2 months. Hmmm ... so I get the charger on it & bring it back. Now I notice the ALT light is on steady ... KEY OFF, not even in ignition! Amp test confirmed a couple amp draw. Autozone says it's fine ...

Rather than drive all the way back out there & probably lose my temper, I just bought a used voltage regulator I found on eBay for $14. Problem solved.

From then on, I only buy electronics either from NAPA, or a company that specializes in alternators. Much less headaches that way.

I tried that a couple years ago. I bought an alternator from NAPA. It had a bad voltage regulator out of the box. I returned it to the store and told them about the problem. They refused to believe me. After enough convincing I got them to test it. It passed the first two tests but then failed the third time around. Begrudgingly, they replaced it.

Ha! It looks like the windows were rolled down during the danger ride, how much mud were you able to splatter on the grins that went from ear to ear on the co-workers faces

Love how your truck turned out rex
It gets better and better each time I envy it.

I'll get some pics of my interior on Monday and let you judge for yourself how dirty they got lol!! One of them was a friend of my coworker that is a student here from china so I had to initiate him properly after they decided to speak Chinese in my truck! I got him with the good ole "hey man I think that tires hung up on something can you stick your head out the window and check for me" trick. I don't think he'll ever fall for that one again!!!
