I haven't been working much on the trucks lately (they haven't needed it!) but I did finally get around to changing the front pads and rotors on my wife's 2000 Blazer. The left side wasn't bad but the right inside pad was worn to the point that it had grooved up the rotor. The truck stops beautifully now!

After having done the brake work I noticed that the steering and suspension components are getting sloppy. Once I save up some more money I'll buy new control arms, tie rod ends, sway bar end links, and bushings (I've already replaced the idler arm).

 

Just ordered the Volant CAI for my 4.3l at 4wo|truck & SUV accessories. I heard good things about it so I decided to give it a try though I'm not expecting tremendous gain.

 

I installed my 1.5" wheel spacers on the rear yesterday. I didn't realize what a difference such a small change would make with the look of it in the back. It's something I should have done a long time ago.

 

Left side motor mount. With a lift and air. Still took 1.5 hours. Tomorrow....right side.

 

finally got the wheel stud drilled out to get the stripped lug nut off, and then put a new stud in there.

 

Yesterday I did a more thorough inspection on my wife's 2000 Blazer. The front end is pretty much shot. With 220,000 miles on it now that's to be expected. I placed a rather sizeable order with Rock Auto today. The truck will be getting brand new inner and outer tie rod ends, sway bar links and bushings, upper and lower control arms, Pitman arm, and shocks at all four corners. Almost $700 later it's going to be a nearly luxurious ride. The parts should be here middle of next week. I'll probably put everything together in the week following that.

my inner control arm bushing is gooone. its killed the inside of my tire. So,i had 3 choices.
1. replace bushings on a used arm. which had a old balljoint.
2. buy new arm
3. go junkyard hunting for another arm.

i went with 3,and i scored. found a BRAND NEW control arm on a 2001 blazer. snagged it for a whoppin $25 and i didnt even have to pull it!!!!! friggin sweet.

 

WOW! GREAT score! Up here the boneyards have a $25 MINIMUM ... so if you need a inner door handle and don't load up your pockets with fuses, bulbs, & relays, you pretty much get screwed.

Up here that arm would've cost $40 easy ...

 

Damn, that's screwed up. I needed a new fuel return line, went to the salvage yard and got one for $5. New from factory was $120+freight. I was a weekend early on their $50 all you can carry, next time they have one I need a list of stuff.

 

Picked up some 31" Duratrac's, just need to trim some fenders and get them mounted. They look sexy though!
