The bolt holes in that housing are through-holes. So I just got a longer bolt, nut and some washers. It tightened up good. Maybe when I get time at a later date I'll heli-coil it. But it's good for now.. Thanks for askin BTW...

The wifey and I went riding down some trails. Tried to get the Blazer stuck so I could put the winch to the test, and the darn thing pulled through everything in it's path. Not sure if I should be upset or happy about that lol

Sorry your Blazer passed the test man.. That sucks. Maybe you'll have to hit the Everglades and take on some serious swamp to get stuck.

Installed a ZQ8 steering gear box on my 89 2WD, 2DR S15 Jimmy. I purchased the gear box from Advanced auto. The gear box was a Cardone rebuilt gear box with lifetime warranty.

Shortened my front driveshaft to fit my new front axle, and got my winch wired up.

Yikes! You all ok? That sure looks to me as little more than a "bit of an accident"!

It wasn't today but I had the transmission serviced (fluid/filter) earlier in the week by the local shop that rebuilt it for me last March.

They want you to come in at +6,000 miles and then every 30,000 miles after that for the fluid/filter change. (This is for 4L60Es.) For the +6,000 mile service they don't charge labor which is nice. All looked good.

I did learn they use a synthetic transmission fluid ("globlal synthentic"). Also that if your transmission overheats, the best thing to do is to pull over and stop the engine. I questioned the logic of turning it off sharing that I thought it would be best to keep everything flowing but the son of the owner told me that without air flowing over the radiator and cooler, the transmission could actually heat up. He also told me to do this so that it won't go any hotter than 220'F.
