Nice.. but strangely silent.
What did you use for grease? Dielectric grease?

When I first got my Blazer, I had a weird squeak that took me forever to find. If I remember correctly, it was the parking brake cable sheath rubbing against something. A strategically placed zip tie fixed it.

All I can say is that's a rich mans solution! It looks like a really robust design albeit way over priced. It did give me an idea for mine though.

Had a jug of Mobil 1 red synthetic, which I used on the liftgate latch too. It worked out great.
But now I can hear this creaking noise around the bumper....,

Replaced transfer case fluid (with the special stuff for 4-button ones) and replaced the fuel filter. What a stupid design for the fuel filter mount. Argh.

I wanted to check the rear diff fluid and was thinking of doing a brake fluid flush but I might kick those down the calendar a few months.

For our Blazers that at most might get $4,500 when sold, $1,000 for a tire carrier is pretty pricey. In contrast, for a newer rig, one that costs $35,000, that is nothing.

Then again, to me my Blazer is worth much more than $4,500 because I'd have to pay a lot more, at least twice that amount, to find a functional replacement. I'll probably try to get my Blazer spare tire carrier on next summer (when I have time) since it is so much more compact of an installation than the Wilco thing.

In my Xtreme the spare is inside and I'd like to move it out. But I agree w/ Christine.. $1,000?

Where are the gas tanks located on the Blazer, is it in back or to the side?

..get under there and look
If its a 2DR its in the rear, 4DR is on the drivers side just forward of where the filler door is.
