Well I think I found a tranny! The guy says it was rebuilt 10-12k ago and then the truck was wrecked. He's only asking $200obo for it since he doesn't have the paperwork to prove the rebuild but I figure I'll go and take a look at it for that price. I'll pull the pan and see how it looks in there hopefully it will be good. It also comes with a "new when the trans was rebuilt" torque converter. I'm just looking for something to get me through the holidays so I can take my time to rebuild my current trans on my own time. Anyone with any hints, tips, or tricks on what to look for let me know please!

Default Let me see if I can answer your ?

You are buying used tranny correct and you want to know if its good but checking over.1st thing is drop the pan and check the filter. There should be little to no shavings of clutch packs or any other material in the bottom of the pan.Smell the fluid and check the color,if its brown and smells burnt or not normal that can indicate something wrong.Check the torque converter inside make sure there isnt a crack inside of the bushing inside.BTW that would be a good place to get a sample of fluid to check out.Next hope for the best LOL.Since you didnt get a chance to feel how it shifts you got a 50/50 chance its either good or bad.I`d sell you mine an extra engine to go with it.Both have been rebuilt and have 0 miles on them.

I took a photo of the h4 upgrade on the jimmy
I need to aim the headlights a bit better, but still 100% improvement over sealed beams

Today I finally got back to working on my '98 Jimmy. Back in mid-September I got as far as disassembling the right side of the steering system. I got the steering knuckle off and the ball joints out. Then I didn't have any time to work on it... until today. A buddy and I got the new ball joints on and got everything reinstalled. We also had enough time and daylight to change out the idler arm. Now I just need another free day to do the left side and then it's off to the alignment shop.

And after that I get to pull the valve body from the transmission...

I really wished I had my blazer today. It snowed at around 8pm to 9pm, then it got even colder and I had to ride the bike home after that. I thought for sure that I was going to hit an ice patch and go down.

Here's how the bike looked like after I got it home.
