sounds like the wiper arms need to be moved.... That means removing them off the splines and replacing them in the correct spot.

Remove the arms, turn the ignition on, turn the wipers on, then off, wait for them to park, turn the ignition off and install the arms.

This will only change the parking position, not the direction of the wipers.

not if done right... IF you set the motor into park position and then install the wipers like captain stated. They should be adjusted properly after that.

I agree with what Gio and captain are saying, take the wiper arms off, put the motor into parking postiion (off) and then put the arms back on, should fix the problem.

Turns out the problem was actually how the wiper mechanism is mounted onto the motor. I think I had them running when I pulled the negative battery terminal, causing them to stop mid-stroke (the arms were off so I didn't notice), so I figured this was the actual neutral position. I feel dumb now
