A friend of mine made me an offer to get her 1993 (I think) Blazer. I will need to pull the aftermarket Stereo that is in it, and if there are speakers, or other stereo equipment. Other than that, what is there I can have. Just not sure if it is worth what she wants for it. It is a 4 door with a Vortec V6.

My biggest fear is that this will be another big project, and right now I have way to many projects. She said it ran last over 5 years ago, but when they put the stereo in, and had the battery unhooked it came back with issues. Something with the check engine light on, and the fact that it was in lock mode. Not one clue what she is talking about, but she has no clue what she is talking about either. I took some carb cleaner and sprayed it into the throttle body while cranking and it tried to start. After that I just shut the hood and told her I would let her know.

It is 4 wheel drive and that is a plus here in utah, but I already have a 1967 Chevy Truck (2 Wheel Drive) that should handle city driving in the winters... But like everything else I own it is not a finished truck, but more of a work truck, with future project potential.

Like rex said, hard to say if we dont know how much they want for it. But if anything I would offer them the price that a junk yard would pay for it, they obviously have no need of it if it has been sitting for that long, and I would not take the time to take the stereo out unless they are just giving it to you (they havent missed it in the last 5 years). If you are going to buy it, offer 300 with the stereo, if they say no then dont take it. Just my opinion tho. (sounds like it will be a bit of a project anyways)

Sorry I guess that would have helped.... She said I could have it... just do not know if it is worth the hassel to do the stereo removal, and then the work to get it running, buy tires for it, atleast the fronts, and then what ever is wrong. Do not know what these things are worth.

1) how much extra "play cash" do you have?
2) how much free time do you have?

If you answer "enough" to both then go for it... At worse you could part it out or sell it to a junk yard. If it were me in my current situation I would say thanks but no thanks. If it ran, even rough, then that'd be another story.

Pulling the stereo and speakers is an extremely simple task, all could be done in 20 minutes.
as for getting it running, does it turn over?
if it turns over, i would start checking the fuel, fuel pumps are known for going out on these.
