Anybody replaced the fuel regulator in a cmfi unit? I found an aftermarket regulator sold by 1AAUTO.COM and others. They say it can be replaced separately from the injection unit. Part #PLP2560000 on their website. Any info would be much appreciated as this is the third time mine has failed and spending another 300 dollars for the new unit would suck.

If the CPI spyder is anything like the CSFI spyder in the mid'96+, the FPR is held in by a snap ring and sealed with an o-ring. Should be able to replace it without replacing the whole CPI spyder. It mostlikely will require the removal of the spyder from the lower intake and if that is the case, I would advise replacing the 'nut kit' which consists of the internal feed/return fuel lines to the spyder. They really are only meant to be used once and often leak if reused.
Have you removed your upper intake and pressurized the fuel system? You can do this to verify that the FPR is where it actually is leaking. If you have replaced the CPI spyder before without replacing the 'nut kit', it is quite possible that the problem was leaking internal fuel lines, not a leaking FPR. Just a thought.

Replaced the nut kit last time. I believe the 96 is a different injector unit. From what I have heard the regulator can't be replaced on the "w"code engine but this company says it can.

Here's something that I found with a google search:

But from the pictures and descriptions I have seen/read, it looks like the FPR is held in by a plate that gets screwed fast to the CPI spyder body.

Just replaced mine on my Blazer yesterday. Mine is a "w" as well. It was a very simple fix as well.
