Default 4.3 engine removal-need help

Hi,
I am trying to remove a 4.3 v6 out of my girlfriend's 92 S10 Blazer 4x4 with a 5 speed manual transmission to change the oil pan gasket, motor mounts and possibly the rear main seal.I've got everything loose, the engine is pulled away from the trans. but the oil pan is up against the front differential and the engine isn't disengaged from trans. enough to pull it straight up.I have pulled engines in the past out of other vehicles but this one has me frustrated.Any tips or help would be appreciated,Thanks,Bill

Welcome to the forum, there are lots of people on here that know more than I do about your model year.

I'm not sure about the '92, but in the newer model you need to remove the transfer case and the transmission first.

Thanks, I'll have to look and see if that will work on this one,it sounds like a whole lot more work,I also thought about dropping the front differential but there's a mount bracket welded to frame that is in the way, maybe there's some sort of trick that I don't know to do this, the Chilton's manual isn't a lot of help. The Blazer looks to be a solid built rig but this is getting to be a pain to just change an oil pan gasket.

I did that about a year ago, they want you to lower the entire front axel, in my case, I just cut off the pan and was done with it, was getting a deeper one anyway.

It seems to me that you can bend that bracket enough to get the clearance you need, then hammer it back into position when you put it back together.
You might also need to disconnect the relay rod from the idler arm and the pitman arm and lower the rod for additional clearance.
