'93 4.3L Vortec Wont Start
I bought a 93 blazer about 2 weeks ago. I started work on it with a new battery, plugs, wires, cap and rotor, fuel pump, serpintine belt, tires and new gas. I can get it to run if I pour gas into the intake, but only for a few seconds. I took the intake off to see if the injectors were clogged and thats when i found the Cpi unit or spider. Is there any way that i can take that apart to try to clean it out to see if that works or do i have to get a new one. Or if anyone has any other suggestions that i can try this weekend please HELP.
I finally got this Pig running. After spending $300 on a new Cpi unit it still wouldnt start so I went back over things I had replaced already. As it turnes out Oriely Auto gave me the wrong fuel pump. It was for a tbi system which only needs 10 pounds when my Cpi needs 60 pounds. So I dropped the (now mostly full) gas tank again switched them and the thing started up like a champ, even with 212,000 miles and sitting in some guys backyard for almost two years without ever being so much as looked at. Damn I like a 4.3
dont want to look like I'm Hijacking this thread, however; everything is so similiar, my truck as well is a 1993, 4.3 and it will not start, I have replaced the plugs, wires and distributor, I have measured the fuel pressure to be 60lbs, I am at a loss, i had it running yesterday, although it was rough, and now today, nothing, doesnt even seem like it wants to catch, any ideas would be great, thanks in advance
Well it sounds like you have already taken care of what my problem was (which was the wrong fuel pump). When I bought the truck the guy said that he was in Atlanta and it started running like it had a broken valve spring. I never did change any of those. You said that you replaced the distributor, not just the cap right? If that is the case I would check the timing on yours before you move on to more expensive items like the Cpi unit. Now I did change the Cpi but I am not even sure if that was one of the problems but the truck sat for almost two years and then started right up. Like i said before Oriely Auto gave me a fuel pump for a Tbi insteadof a Cpi.
