96 4x4 Blazer ECM Fuse
Hey everyone don't I just have the little problem that just boggles my mind like scrabble OK to start off with I'm dealing with a 1996 Chevy Blazer LT 4X4 4.3L CSEFI (Fuel Injection)
ok well the truck has been running great for some time now I did notice in the midst of winter (temps in the single digits) that my fuel pump was getting weak and it wouldn't sometimes want to crank over (Fire up) unless you would jump start it, so I carried an extra battery with me to start it up when no one was around
then as it warms up everything is fine and I replaced the fuel pump 2 weeks ago pressure and everything is fine (58psi) and the truck ran great. Well heres the part of the story that boggles my mind I was hauling a small trailer the other day when the truck just stalled out, so up with the hood and to check and see what was going on, well nothing smoking so to the fuse compartment I go I noticed that the ECM (FUSE #10) was blown so I replaced it, the truck ran great again for about 10 min. then died again. we got her towed home, so once again I replaced it good for about 7 min. then it blew, now everytime I replace it I turn the key and it blows. [:@] I began wondering what was wrong so in case it was a sensor I unplugged the TPS,MAF,AIT,Alternator, unplugged the injector electrical connector, all the A/C, unplugged the 3 relays behind the glove compartment, and it still blows any suggestions I really need to get her goin sharing one car between 4 working people isn't easy

Ok, so it sounds like you have a short to ground. Someone put a really good post recently on how to find the short. Unfortunately my memory is also short, so I don't remember who posted it. At any rate, what I have done is I wired a headlamp (spare) with 2 wires and attatched blade connectors to the other end. Test it across the battery to make sure the light lights. Pull the ECM fuse, plug your headlight wires where the fuse was and turn on the ignition. If there's a short, the light will light. Start unplugging connectors one at a time. Unplug a connector, if the light stays on, plug it back in. If the light goes out, the short is now separated from the fuse panel. Wiggle wire harnesses and see if the light flickers or goes out. It could be a sensor or a wire with the insulation rubbed through.
I would start looking in the area that you were last working on, (fuel pump wiring)
I'll see if I can find a wiring diagram, if I find anything or have any ideas, I'll put up another post.

OK, well update I removed the clips to the fuel Pump and checked everything for good ground and power, everything checked out OK!! even OHM was OK.. ..... However I did find a small set of Vice Grips that I left up there!!! suprise they were there!!! ok well I then tugged around on the main wiring harness goingbetween the EGR and the computer the truck starts and runs until you start messing with the wiring harness soo that fun group of about 200 or so wires is my problem I just have to figure what it is that is causing it to kill the truck, ok so my possibilities include a short in a wire, a wire grounding out, two wires contacting one another,
so I think that my biggest fear is having to remove this big massave group of wires and going that route about checking it. knowing it could be a short and a certain type of bend could cause it to loose signal.
so I guess its safe to say I could drive it as long as I carry me enough 20 amp fuses to get one place to another. Humm getting expensive

At least you're closer to finding the source of the problem. Grab a cup of coffee and maybe a digital camera and make like you're working on a puzzle.
