99 zr2 wont go in 4x4

Default 99 zr2 wont go in 4x4

i have 99 zr2 and wont go in 2 4x4 all it does is flash in 4 hi and makes a clunk when goes in 2 4 lo changed the shift motor at a cost of 1200 bucks and still not workin . any idea on what is going on with it could it be the switch itself or what

Have you tried to check for codes?

Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds.
Connect PIN 13 on the data link cable (DLC) to a ground. The DLC is located in the cab under the instrument panel on the driver's side.
Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
Observe the transfer case shift control switch select buttons for flashing codes

All the bottons should flash together to show a code.
There are 4 possible codes, 1,2,3 or 4.
