clutch rattle?

clutch rattle?
Hello, im new to the 4x4 world and just today, my 87 S 10 Blazer started a new sound...its coming from the clutch area its a rattle but soon as i touch clutch pedal it shuts up..Now i been told its a number of things but if anyone can tell me a way to check any of this myself that would help...its not slipping or making any other sounds.and how long i might have til its a major problem thanks

Too bad we can't easily post sounds with pictures.
My first thought is that your release bearing is noisy and when you apply a little pressure on the pedal, it's quiet 'cause it's engaged.
Do you have a lot of free play in the clutch pedal?
When you engage the clutch, does it grab near the floor or near the top of the travel?
You might have a worn clutch or air in the system.

Bout mid-way it grabs, i dont know much bout the truck have had bout 3 weeks.. i took it wheeling and it seem fine but 2 days ago it started this noise...pedal seems to stick up further then the other pedals? also when i went wheeling it was stinky like burnt fluid not clutch burn.maybe fluids need to be replaced?? also found out oil dipstick is wrong 1 got 1 coming soon. Thanks for all help!
