Default Colant problem

Here I go again.

Alight now I have dark black paste stuff in my colant system. Don't know where it is coming from but I just flushed my system because of it. When the water was coming out of the system it was pretty clear with no trace of the stuff that I was trying to flush. I installed the Prestone flush and fill kit and it worked like a charm. Well, now again the black paste stuff is back. I checked the oil to see if there was water in that but no trace so I don't think that it is my head gasket. The vehicle runs fine I drive close to 50 miles a day and I don't notice any problems. Anyone know what it could be.

The black paste stuff (looks like grease) shows up on the prestone cap and my radiator has a gray substance in it. The gray stuff floats and when I use a dip stick on it only shows up on the top of the water. Also the resivore doesn't have any trace of the stuff. I think that it is clogged but I have not checked yet.

Any ideas.

If you're positive that it's not a head gasket leak, then I would suggest that it's probably an leaking intake gasket.

Could also be a coolant line inside the tank has cracked. If that the case then new rad instore for you...if you need new rad then here is link to show you a better than stock one:

How do I find out if it a head gasket? I checked the oil and didn't find any water and I don't seem to have any problems when I am getting around.

If it's a head gasket and you don't have a cooling system pressure tester, you could run the engine til it's hot and you have pressure in the cooling system. Check for pressure by trying to squeeze the upper radiator hose ( use a glove or a rag) then shut off the engine, remove the spark plugs, see if you can see any coolant on the plugs, if you have a skinny (like a pen) flashlight look into the cylinders for coolant. let it sit for a while, if you still can't see any coolant . Have someone crank the engine over ( still with the plugs out) and watch for coolant spraying out of the spark plug holes.
