Default DEAD!

Well this am my truck died driving down rt. 1. I believe its the cat. converter. The parts store will not have the new cat in until tomorrow pm. So I was wondering if there is any harm in cutting the old cat out and putting in a pipe to fill the gap just to get to work tomorrow. I heard of sensors down on the exhaust but didnt know if there was any harm in not having a cat on and driving it to and from work.
Thanks
Mandi

Your 'check engine light' will be on, but it shouldn't hurt anything over a few days. Just don't get caught with it like that. The federal fine is fairly large!

How did you come to the determination that it was the catalytic converter?

ive had cats clog on me before and cause the vehicle not to run, but that was with a pretty dirty running engine. its like sticking a potato in your tailpipe - thats the only way i know of that a "bad" cat would cause something not to run.

if youre clogging the cat then you probably have other engine problems that are causing the engine to run poor enough to clog it. better check it out.

Thanks for the help. I wouldnt mind selling the insides and by the sounds of it I have some huge "rocks" in the system. It rumbles like ive got a badazz muscle car!! Its rt. 1 in PA. I started the car yesterday after it was towed and it would run under 20 mph but if i pushed it anymore it would boog and bounce. And the SES light bulb is burnt out so thats another adventure!!
