Default Heater fan/Radio problem

My radio for my 1996 4.3L chev blazer will periodically stop working on me, it acts as though the antenna is disconnected, just static but antenna is fine, what is weird is that at the same time the heater fan will stop working. This just comes and goes so it is hard to troubleshoot. Any ideas, what is common between the radio and heater? it is just annoying now but with winter coming a reliable heater would be nice.
