Usually I'm good about watching and remembering where things go back, but it was dark outside and after hooking up the main wire with the rubber boot to alternator, I noticed a lone wire (blue) that possibly went to the far brace on the back of the alternator. Is that possible?

 

There should be the red wire (battery) to the terminal under the rubber boot and the plug in connector to the internal regulator.
