did that already. the black one on the top looked like it might fit, but i had to pull the wires pretty hard to get it to reach. left it laying there. what i really want to know is why the harnesses are getting wet in the first place. i highly doubt water is supposed to be reaching that area.

 

Well most of if not all the connectors in the engine compartment are "weather proof" connections. If you take them apart you should notice a multi-ribbed rubber seal on the male end of the connectors, this is supposed to keep moisture from affecting the connections.

If there is a moisture related problem it could be under the distributor cap, there are a couple of screens in the base of the distributor that can get clogged over time and allow moisture to build up inside the cap causing corrosion to the terminals of the cap and to the rotor. Acording to GM Service Information these screens can be removed and the passages cleaned out with air pressure to make sure that the moisture is allowed to leave the cap.

 

We had a lot of rain yesterday and my 99 almost didn't start and it threw the same random multiple misfire code. Yesterday afternoon I put a new disributor cap and rotor button on it and it purs like a kitten now. $34 and 15 minutes. I'll probably go back this weekend and clean out those little screens just to be safe.
