Default Moisture in the Dist Cap

I have read posts that indicate there are screens in the bottom of the distributor that help excess moisture escape. Apparently they can get clogged and allow moisture to build up. Thursday we had a lot of rain and even after a new cap and rotor button, it turns over great but has no fire. I waited till the next day (didn't do anything to it) and it fired right up. No codes or anything and has been running great ever since. How hard is it to remove those screens? Should there be enough moisture inside there to keep it from starting even though it was parked? Other than removing the screens, is there any way to prevent the moisture from getting in there? It's a 99 4dr 2wd. Unless I can figure out some way to keep it dry I guess I'll be driving my old K-5 on rainy days. Thanks!

Default RE: Moisture in the Dist Cap

Why don't you wait until it rains again and see if it starts or not. If it starts and runs well in the rain? Why bother.

PS: If you do everything you read in all these posts, you'll be walking soon.
