And now suddenly my front end pops!
OK. My front wheelbearings were both bad. I know that, they were loose. And my idler arm was twisting, not keeping the trac tight. So I took it in to the mechanic to have both front hubs replaced and the idler arm. So when I picked it up I quickly discovered the poping coming from the pass. side front when you were going slow and turning. So I took it back in and he said he checked everything and it was probably the caliper, as the sleeves fell apart when he went to reinstal it. So he replaced it, and said it's all good. I went to pick it up, put it in reverse, turned right to back out. And pop pop pop. I'm baffled. Any ideas? Please help me!
Can I get some advise about what to do now? When I took it in the last time, and he replaced the caliper, he said they took the whole thing apart again and it all looked fine. He said that maybe the bad wheelbearing damaged it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I use the truck for work, and it has to work. Tennessee is only a couple weeks off, and I've had a call about going to New York. So the work truck has to perform. Thank you much for the help.
I would take it back to the shop and have them fix it right this time. Hard to tell exactly what they screwed up. But you paid to have it fixed, and had it fixed based on thier diagnoses. If we miss diagnose a problem, we typically eat the cost of labor to fix it. Part of our way of making it right. I have even seen times when we have eaten the cost of parts as well. You went in to them to get it fixed, they should fix it right.
Negative word of mouth is the worst advertisement. Positive word of mouth is the best advertisement.
Talk to them calmly, yet obviously upset about the whole situation. If you noticed the problem back ing up, they should have also noticed it when they pulled it out of the shop, let alone during the test drive. They did test drive it right?

Is it just one "pop" at a time, or does it seem like a "rotating" noise?
If it's just one "pop" I would have a look at the lower ball joints...these cars eat ball joints.
Also, Hanr3's advice is good advice.

Yea. OK. Now I've taken it back in again and they replaced the cv shaft. I paid for the part. The labor was free. I got it back yesterday and heard no pops. Then today I heard a couple. One at a time. Like one when backing up and turning. And one when taking off turning, sometimes. Now I was just telling the wife about it and standing by the pass. front wheel. And I pushed with my foot on the top to the right of center on the tire, and it popped. Once. Any ideas. I do think the pop I heard predominantly before was the cv shaft, But this noise could have been hidden by that one. I guess I'm thinkin maybe ball joint? Would they have noticed that when looking for the noise?
