Remove the wiper arm from the shaft
Remove the nut and the spacer from the shaft
Remove the interior panel from the vehicle endgate
Disconnect the electrical connector from the controller
Remove two screws and the wiper motor from the vehicle

The drawing doesn't show the black bar over the motor where the power lock is located, unless I remove this bar I can not reach the screws shown, the bar looks like its riveted on or held together with some type of fastener I don't recognize

Sorry, I can't see a black bar in the diagrams and diagrams are all I have. My Blazers are much older. I have a '74, an '85 and an '87.
Is the bar just a brace or are there components attatched to it.
Can you see if it's held on with bolts or rivetts?

they look like black rivets I managed to extract the motor with jointed sockets but there should be an easier way to get at this, upon inspection the plastic gear wheel in the motor is striped and this appears to be fatal. on the upside this will buy me some time to figure out how to get it back together!
