Default turn signals

I am having a problem with my turn signals. They are not working properly. I have replace the relay under the dash and it didn't help. The only way for me to get my signals to work is to hold down the hazard button while the directional signal is engaged. Any suggestions to a solution would be great.

sorry I thought I added the info, It is a 1998 blazer w/ cruise control 4wd 4.3 vortec

According to a friend of mine at Chevy he said its a VERY common problem and it needs a new hazzard switch.

Dory, thanks for the advise, but how certain is it that it is just the hazzard switch, I have heard that the whole multi-function swith needs replaced. I just don't want to spend the money and find out it isn't it, no disrespect I appreciate the suggestion. I'm just hoping your answer is the solution. thanks again

There was a post awhile back that detailed the replacement of the hazard switch with VERY little work actually involved.
