My 2002 has 2 1/4", idk why it'd be any different than your 97 since we have the same engine. I measured last week since I'm about to do exhaust also.

Yeah my '01 was 2 1/4" too. I can't see it being any different.

2 1/4 both in and out?

I thought I had read it was 2 1/2 inlet. Guess not.

No! Don't take my word for it!

I just though that I had heard that and wanted to verify. Sounds like its 2 1/4 both ways though.

I measured that it was 2 1/4" in/out, but I measured a few inches before/after the muffler, so for all I know it could in fact flare in/out to 2 1/2" at the muffler. Didn't look like it, and that would make no sense, but lets face it- car companys do MANY things that don't make sense haha.
