CAI and the IAT

Default CAI and the IAT

ok ive been looking around for cold air intakes
and spectre makes a kit for 150
but at oreillys they have all the separate elbows, couplers, and filters to make your own
kinda like these

but i dont see where the IAT sensor goes
the small one between the MAF and throttle body
if i make my own does it matter where it goes as long as it is between the MAF and throttle body?

I don't see why not... You can probably pop a hole and get a rubber grommet the right size for the sensor, and just make the hole big enough for a tight fit.

my $0.02, I could be mistooken though.

Drilled a hole with a rubber grommet is what we did on my buddy's LS1 s-10 CAI. We also built it using parts store elbows but he TIG welded it so there wasn't so many silicone boots.

I actually have the spectre cold air intake on my blazer and it is awesome. I paid $112 for it on JEGS and it has a rreat sound to it as well as throttle response and acceleration. Now its not gonna get you a ton of HP but it'll give about 5-8. 100% worth it.

And it was easy to put on!

I have an option racing cai (same as K&N) got it for 80bucks and it works great. Only problem I had was the bracket was a little off from where is was supposed to be and I just wrenched it down and when I gunned it one time it snapped but it still works. Might have just been that one i got too.

FYI- The rubber gromet is the hardest part. Get ready to cuss, and make sure no little kids are around. I bought an Option intake also, the bolts on the plenum that connect to the TB snapped off. I'd stay away from that kit since I also had to tweak the brackets like 99blaz did. I'd give it a 6/10. Pay the extra cash and get the real Spectre intake since thats the kit that Option knocked off for theirs.

Actually option knocked off K&N (I even got K&N directions with it), its the exact same thing as that. And Spectre didnt really have a cai when I was looking. Overall for the the price the option cai is worth it but I would prolly invest a little more and get the spectre.

the IAT is probably on the underside of the tube, I'm guessing that the aftermarket tube is larger in diameter than the stock one, so if they put it their it might interfere with the hood, they just probably moved it to the underside.
