Intake with homemade heat shield
Bought an intake off ebay, ditched the filter and bought a K&N. I also got a can of MAF sensor cleaner while I was at it (it really needed it). Brainstormed for a bit and then figured out how to make my own heat shield out of some old aluminum license plates. One I left flat (to the side of the radiator fan) and another I cut with tin snips and fitted it under the intake tubing. Drilled out some holes and bolted them together and used existing holes to attach the shield to the truck. last I slid one over the top and bent the one end down. It's a pretty tight fit and probably won't have to put any bolts into this one.
In all it took 2 1/2 hours to assemble the intake, clean the maf, and figure out my heat shield. All for less then 100$.
More pics in my garage.

LOL. I was rather proud of my creation. I earned a beer for that. Decided not to paint it so I could read the state motto when I lifted the hood. I'm sure something about it is illegal in NYS
