Default Magnaflow cat n' muff

So i spent 10 hours installing a new magnaflow cat and muffler. now my truck idles perfectly and runs cleaner. anyway, heres the pics...

i guess the previous owner liked doing some mudding... this skid plate weighed about 40lbs.

welded the old stuff to a piece of steel so i knew what angle everything went together and how long of pieces of pipe to piece into the exhaust system so the hangers would be in the right spot still.

put in a flange so i dont have to remove the tranny xmember to get the exhaust off ever again.

my baby

my baby's fine work

overall it sounds great and runs even better so it was well worth the 10 or 12hr install.

i used some black header paint with silica. it has been great stuff so far and dried to the touch pretty fast so i could install it like 15 min after i painted it. the paint was kinda neat, the instructions said to run the truck for 10 min, then cool for 10, then repeat, then run it for 30 and cool for 30 to bake the paint on. i kinda did that, just didnt time it all out perfectly.

Header paint FTW! I use that on exhaust tips cause it seems hardly anyone makes black ones. Very nice welding also. Looks good. And I'm gonna go ahead and ask what I'm sure someone else is going to ask any minute now...

Got a video or sound clip?

hah no video or sound clip. took the truck in today for what i think are some tranny issues. also, im pretty sure i have exhaust leaks from each manifold to downpipe. i guess i should start by replacing those gaskets? i tried finding some on the weekend but couldnt so i put it back together with the old ones.

Nice work!

You could have damaged one of the donuts (the gaskets between the manifold and the y-pipe) at some point during the disassembly/reassembly. They are cheap enough and if you've had it all apart, they aren't that difficult to replace.

ya and with my added flange before the cat, the ypipe is fairly easy to remove now. ill have to get some asap, a few local parts stores didnt have them in stock when i had it apart.
