I'm asking the group for some help. I have a 2001 Blazer, 4-Door. Looks like my exhaust pipe is detached from my muffler due to corrosion. It may be the original. Most shops want to install a whole new muffler and have proved high quotes. Is there a way to just get a new tailpipe? Thanks
after market muffler and tail pipe probably not much money, with that kind of rust surprised rear cover and fuel and brake lines aren't leaking and frame shot
The muffler outlet is very rusty too, so a shop won't be able to weld a new tailpipe to it. Clamping a new pipe to that rusty outlet will just ruin both.
If you cannot afford a new exhaust system, as a temporary fix until you can replace the rusted out muffler would be a clamp-on joint. This would slip over the end of the muffler outlet and the tailpipe end, then clamp down onto them to hold them together. Most automotive stores have kits for this.
Be aware this is a temporary fix at best while you save up a bit to repair it properly. Your tailpipe is extremely rusty, and will continue to deteriorate. A clamp-on bandaid will give you a few months to a year. I doubt it will go longer than that.
