Wow, that's from back at the start of this thread.
A PCM tune is the reprogramming of various parameters in the (P)ower (C)ontrol (M)odule that handle the computerized commands to the vehicle. It can be done on-vehicle with various handheld programmers or by buying a reprogrammed PCM from a company that specializes in this.

[quote=88Vic;332529]You don't even know about pains getting spark plugs out, until you've done it on a transverse mounted V6 or V8 and the intake manifold blocks the rear bank, that'll make you want to punch a baby.quote]

amen to that, I hate having to do plugs on my wifes minivan. I remove the manifold to get to the back 3 plugs.

On mine I did it from underneath, didn't want to remove the intake. On the 4th gen Chrysler minivans (01-07) you can remove the wiper tray to access the plugs from above. Wish they were smart enough for that on the old vans.

But anywho, girl at work has a 96 Silverado but it has the 4.3, and she wants it to sound as close to a V8 as possible so i'm gonna design an exhaust for her. For some reason, seems like the Silverado's with the 4.3 have a deeper soud than the Blazer's and S10's even though the motors are exactly the same.

I thought I read somewhere that the Silverados have different exhaust manifolds and a bettter flowing muffler? Show her the Edelbrock SDT (checkout youtube). This guy has a clip of it on his s10, before and after putting on headers, and this other one has it on an Astro or something. Either way, 4.3 + SDT =

I don't know, I saw this vid and that sounds awesome, except i'd go with a 2.5" tailpipe but same idea: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aedkJ...eature=related

Keep in mind a few things:

1) Those are VERY low revs. I doubt hes going over 1500 RPMs.
2) The mic on the camera is too close to the tailpipe, which distorts the sound. The best clips online are the ones where the camera is a few steps away from the tailpipe and that show the vehicle in motion. Neutral revs can be misleading.
3) Flowmasters are prone to rusting unless you get the stainless steel ones which cost extra.

I just bought the same muffler, stainless steel, for $90.

I think that a Thrush Welded muffler, Thunderbolt highflow cat, and a stock 2.5" tailpipe from a V8 truck will have a real nice sound to it for a V6, I don't think spending nearly $100 for a real Flowmaster is necessary, or for any other chambered muffler. Her truck has over 260k on it, it's an old beater so i'm gonna keep it as cheap as possible.

how about having to remove the upper intake on a '04 Mazda Tribute 3.0L cammer engine?

now that's a RPITA for 3 freakin' plugs (which is probably why they were all original after 167K).

I just put a dynomax super turbo cat back exhaust on mine from summit racing ($75) after mail-in-rebate. low rumble to it and not to loud. Its starting to get a little louder as its breaking in but nothing crazy. i did notice a TINY bit of a difference in throttle response as well as MPG.
