Default Resonator??

I think the chamber right after the y-pipe is called a resonator.. anyways what is the purpose of it? i heard it is just to dampen exhaust note.. if this is true would it be reasonable to cut it off and just weld a pipe there..?? would that make my exhaust louder/ any performance gains?

The "chamber" right after the y-pipe is the catalytic converter, not a resonator.

No matter wat you do to your exhaust you wont see any significant hp gains.

removing the cat would cause less back pressure
