As far as opening the hood goes you would just have to make the pipe disconnect where it enters the hood. and if you were to do this i would go to the junk yard and get a spare hood to chop up and use when you want the snorkel Unless you want it to be like that 24/7

get a spare like stated above *just like a spare fender* measure twice cut once. but he had it on his cherokee where he could open and close it without disconnect the intake, it was all one piece. pretty much have a 90* pipe go after the maf straight up to the hood and have the opening on the hood a little larger so you can open shut it. its simple but hard to explain.

Eh, I think I'm going to put this idea on the back burner right now. I want something that will be 24/7, not just for the trails. I can't think of an easy to way let it go through the hood, but also be able to open the hood any time you need without all the hassle of taking the intake apart.

i say work around one of the fenders and relocate some items is the best bet, the hood is a good idea but not as clean nice *depending on how its installed* looking imo, his cherokee though was used a lot for offroading

one thing you could think about is poke your filter through the hood a little and then get on of those lund hood scoops, turn it around so its a cowl, and put it over it to give it a clean look and keep mud and water away from the filter.
