Default What to do with my air intake?

Hey, not super engine savy. I have a 91 s10 Blazer with a 4.3L . I was wondering if I should leave my air intake system stock or put an aftermarket air intake. Maby a open element or a cool air intake? IDK Wich is better or how it may benefit. I just feel like my engine isn't getting enough air. Thanks for the help in advance.

Unless the filter element is clogged and in need of replacement, then your engine is getting plenty of air. For your year model, changing to a different type of filtration system would accomplish nothing. What symptoms is it displaying?

A stock engine isn't going to gain any noticeable horsepower from an aftermarket air intake. What ever gains are claimed, is gonna be at the extreme top end of the power band, a place most street engines don't see often.

Lost of so called "cold air" intakes I've seen do nothing other than remove the factory air box, which actually does pull cold air, either from the inner fender or front grill, and simply add a cool looking cone filter... to the engine compartment. The hot, hot, engine compartment.

Now, if you've added a performance cam, high flow heads, performance intake manifolds, headers and free flowing exhaust, and upgraded the fuel system to deliver more fuel, yeah, you might need a better air intake
