Default 1998 Blazer 4 door, zr2 leaf spring help.

Ok guys . Thanks for reading and any help you guys can provide.

So I have a 1998 4 door 4x4 Blazer. I’ve purchased a ZR2 donor S10. I’ve already pulled front torsion bars and prepped for install. Last weekend I pulled the Zr2 leaf springs. I have Blazer and Zr2 Springs sitting side by side . The zr2 are eyelet to eyelet same length straight across. The Zr2 springs are 2.5” taller though. I have also purchased the RO 2.5” lift kit. My question is do I Need to use the RO shackles still or should I use the factory ones.

I know ive seen comments about the Zr2 springs being installed but I haven’t located an article on them being used with the 2.5 lift kit.

Here are some pics for you guys.

I also have a 1998 blazer zr2 thread if you guys care to check current progress that I update regularly.

Thanks for for all the great help guys and gals!!!!!,

For the amount of work it is, I would try just the leafs first.

You already have them out and it would be a cleaner install if you could use the ZR2 leaf springs with the stock ZR2 shackles. If you need you can always add a longer shackle later. Considering the 4dr will be only heavier than the 2dr, I'd be surprised if the ZR2 springs and shackles would be too high.

There is also the consideration of the spring rates. The ZR2 leaf springs will have a spring rate that is matched to the ZR2 torsion bars.

I faced a bit of this issue when I did my mild lift as I had a the ZW7 Premium Ride Suspension with self-leveling shocks. My solution was to keep the springs and add a spacer for the shocks because could not find longer shocks that were of the same type.

As for the shackles they where the same size as my factory shackles on my 4 door. Also obviously the Zr2 springs total length is longer since they have a taller arc. My Jeep buddy pointed out I may need the longer shackle so I don’t max out the OEM shackle fully compressed.
Spring rate should be ok as I’m also using the Zr2 torsion bars.
I did have a feeling this would be a trial and error a situation but I am still hoping somebody has a solid answer.

Thank you you all for your help and please don’t be afraid to tell me I’m ****ing up somewhere.
