Default building shackles

I have been told that when you want to get 2 inches of lift in the rear w/ shackles that you need to increase the length of your shackles by 4 inches. Is that true. The theory behind that statement is that you are lowering the back of the spring while lifting the chassis of the vehicle so you need to double up. Also how far will 2 inch shackle lift push the tire forward into the wheel well?

It's because you are only lifting half of the spring. Here's a little post I did a while ago.

Thanks for the post. From the looks of your pics it doesnt seem like it moved the tire forward in the wheel well much at all. That was my main concern since I just ordered a set of Mickeythompson Baja MTZ's in 31 10.50 15. I want to gain clearance not lose it. I will continue to build my shackles, and crank the t bar also.

Thanks again
