I'm all for doin stuff yourself. I live on it. But with this im going to agree with George. Ive looked into dropping the diff. and buying lift control arms. Id have to say a body lift, when paired with a slight torsion lift and shackles is the most bang for your buck. I've been told by a few people if youre worried bout wearin out cvs and ball joints just buy the good quality stuff. They wont wear as fast. Throw 31s on it you got 4 to 5 in of lift for maybe $160 plus tires.

The reason nobody has produced a true 2" suspension lift for our trucks is because it would cost the exact same as a 5" lift. And nobody in their right mind would pay the same for a 2" lift as they would for a 5" lift. I jacked my torsion bars up 1.5-2" without control arms or a diff drop and my axles/ball joints are fine, no need to re-invent the wheel.

If you are looking for something to lift your truck that you can fab yourself you'll want to do a SFA swap, it's the only lift worth putting on our trucks IMO besides the cheap body lifts/torsion bar cranks.

what if you slot the holes on the mount brackets even a 1/2" would help. i have a R/C 2" lift and the cv are at a bad angle for sure. 1 1/2" in the front was fine but now with 2" in the front you can see the cv shaft pulling down.

Are you saying slot the holes for where the differential mounts?

yes, i know the tube bolts on to a bracket that bolts to the frame on the pass. side and the driver side to the frame but it looks like you could slot the holes to drop it alittle. like a 1/2".

I am in a situation that would allow pictures of the original setup. (engine, trans, transfer case pulled out)

Anyone find a solution or want to share the failures?

Make a set of offset bushings for the drivers side and then use a thick peice of metal for the passenger side. thats what I did works great. If all you are wanting is 1/2"-1" but if you want more you'll have to buy a kit.

I have the new r/c 2.5 lift and the cv drive line looks good dropping the front diff was a real bag over the head punch in the mouth but it working good and the boot and angles look great I know that r/c did re engineer the lift and shocks
