No it won't get in the way. If you try to get 3 inch out of a t-bar crank you better buy a ton of ball joints and cv axles. 1 1/2 is all you want to go without causeing excess wear on parts.
People say 1 turn on the bolt equals 1/4 inch of rise/lower but personally I don't buy into it. Tape measures are cheap and the only way to get it right.
