Default I got a 1988 s15 jimmy 4x4, got a lift question

I got a question about lifting a 1988 s15 gmc 4x4. I want to start with a body lift until i can afford a suspenion lift. I have done lifts before on 4wd but not a smaller vehicle with independant suspension. I can put blocks under my leaf springs but how do you lift the independant arms in the front?

A body lift does not lift the whole car. It just lifts up the body hence the name. The Leaf springs stay where they are, and you put blocks to seperate the body from the frame. You don't gain any more ground clearence by this, you just gain more room to put on larger tires which will then give you more clearence.
Hope this helps!

What Jimister says is 100% correct. You're not actually touching any part of your suspension or lifting that in any way when you do a body lift. The blocks go in between the frame and the body to lift it up. One good point he mentioned is that you don't gain any ground clearance (as the frame stays in the same position) but you can fit larger tires, which will give you slightly higher clearance depending on the size.

Not sure what your question is. As stated a body lift just lifts the body off the frame. To lift the rear, blocks will not work as the axle is above the leafs. You will have to use longer shackles or an add a leaf. The front is where it gets messy, you can crank the T-bars for free, but this puts added stress on the front drive train. Lots of threads on here covering this topic.
