My 2" shackle lift
#51
They look like 6 1/2 inches from center to center. The shocks are equally hard to compress as they are to extend.

on the rear shocks, if you compress them and then just let go of them, will they stay compressed? or will they want to extend back up on there own?
thanks so much

I want to say I got a solid 1 and 3/4 inches of actual lift...I measured before and after, but I totally forgot what the numbers were. I want to say I posted them on the forum somewhere...dunno. The shocks stay compressed.

The actual process of putting them on is fairly straight forward. It only involves removing and reinstalling 4 bolts (6 if you include the shock mounts) The trouble is that most of those bolts are usually frozen with rust and grime. Especially if you live in a Northern area where they salt the roads. I had a tire shop change out my wifes for $100. Well worth it in my book. Mine took FOREVER and broke a few tools in the process. The shackles are only used on the rear suspension (leaf springs). Up front you have independent front suspension sprung by torsion bars. No shackles involved. In order to lift the front you crank the torsion bars. Which is REALLY easy to do, but requires an alignment afterward. You can find a how-to on here I'm pretty sure with a little searching. Good luck and ask any other questions you have. Thanks BTW =)

Well, the general consensus is that 1.5 - 2" of lift from the torsion bars is manageable. Anything over that will cause problems like I stated. There are a few lift kits floating around out there:
