In what context are you referring? For lifting a vehicle such as the s-series trucks, a block will not work. The spring is under the axle so a block would lower the back of the truck. When someone installs lift springs, they generally have more arch to them which creates more lift. If the spring were over the axle (swapping it will net about 5" lift without doing anything else), then blocks will lift the vehicle by however thick the blocks are. The problem with blocks is they allow more axle wrap which can be a bad thing.

well it is for a 77' k5 blazer. and im putting a 4 inch lift on it. i am just wondering if it it worth the extra $500 to go with springs instead of blocks.

Most definitely. Especially if you want to drive and wheel it.
