Shackle removal
Well, I have the front of my blazer lifted almost 2 inches and I am in the process of lifting the rear. I just bought 2" shackles and I was wondering how to install them. Besides the obvious, put the back end on jack stands and floor jack under the differential, are there any other precautions I should be taking? Right now my plan is to lift the back off the ground and start wrenching off the shackle bolts then put the new ones up, but should i be worried about the energy in the leaf springs or shocks shooting out? I am no mechanic, but I am pretty mechanically inclined. Any advice will help and be appreciated. Thank you.
And if it means anything, its a 98 4 door with 4wd.

you should have to worry too much about the spring coming back up, but it is difficult to pull them down, so I just put a jack on top of the spring and jacked it down to get the longer shackels in. other than that soak the crap out of the bolts with some wd or pb blaster, u might have a hard time getting them out of the metal bushing sleeves. I had to cut out my bushings and get new ones, luckly I had a spare set from a XJ lift I did.
Be very carefull with the springs! Take the load off the springs! They will shoot up with enough recoil to do serious damage to your truck or you!
Not something to take lightly!
Here is an install thread

If your still confused, I strongly recommed paying someone to do it.
