Suspension and other questions

Hey, sorry if any of these topics have already been covered here but im new and i really have no idea what im doing lol. Ok so im in high schooland im getting a 1999 Blazer 4dr 4x4 for $1000 its in good condition what a deal. Anyways i have some questions I would really like to lift it either w/ a suspension lift or body lift. (high school student so not much money available) I have been looking around on the forum and i see that shackles combined w/ a torsion bar turn is a good way to get a few inches of lift. I want to fit 30's or 31's w/ some nice cragar wheels. I was wondering how difficult this would bebecouse i havnt really worked on carsto much. Could i achieve this w/ my skill level and withmy standard tools?Ifyou guys could help me out i would reallyappreciate it.

All you need is a socket set and some muscle to do a tbar and shackles. A floor jack and a bottle jack make the install on the shackles go easier, but you can do it with the bare minimum of a wrench set to get the bolts out
I'm running 30x10.5s, 31x10.50s will fit with a full 2' of lift (can be hard to get full 2' out of just tbar and shackles), but with aftermarket rims you might still get some rubbing when you're fully turned and hit a bump (think pulling into a driveway).
What kind of tires were you wanting?

ok yeah i have sockets and im gonna haft to geta couple of jack stands thats the easy part
I dont really know what kind either all terrains or mud terrains its gonna be my daily driver to school and i dont want to much tire wear but still want some good grip if i decide to take it wheeling sometime what would you sugest?

I'm obviously more partial to the General Grabber AT2s. They're pretty much the same tread pattern as the BF Goodrich A/T KOs, but the Grabbers don't have the side scalloping that the BFGs have, but are much lower priced.
I use the Grabbers on the Blazer as my daily driver as well, and they've been great. Biggest thing is to keep 'em rotated so the front tires don't round up!

how often to you get rotations? Like i said dont know much i kinda just want something fun to drive and work on i really like the look of ur truck to the brush guard is coo and it combined with the roof rack gives it a mean look.

I rotate mine every other oil change. I am also am in high school and i want to do the same stuff your doin. Post up some pics

well cant exactly post em up yet cause i havnt even taken delivery of it i've seen it but i should be getting it real soon most likely by the beginning of the summer as soon as i get it i'll be sure it get the pics up

One other thing that you have to watch out for when going to Crager rims is the back spacing. The stock rims have around 6" of back spacing. Lower back spacing and increase your tire size and you will start to rub on the frame near full steering lock. The further you go or the larger you go, the more pronounced the rub.

hmmm well i'll haft to look into that when i get ready to get them i think i'll go up to a good shop and talk w/ an expert cause i dont want to mush rubbing or wear and i dont know what im doing
