fuel injector and other questions
#1
so I recently replaced my fuel injectors about 6000 miles ago with whatever the auto parts store could give me, cause i couldn't afford the higher quality injectors. But when i replaced them i knew they weren't going to be as good as the factory and i was right. i got about 15 mpg with them. Well since I changed them as sort of a plug and chug solution to a previous problem i had (stuttering at idle) I figured i would switch my old factory injectors that had 79000 on them back soI could get my 18 mpg back. I cleaned them realy well before i put them back in but now i'm still getting 15 mpg.....and i haven't changed anything between then and now. The only crazy explanation i could think of was when i went to change them the first time the fuel line that went to the injectors wasn't in all the way, like it had popped out of the clip but still conected, but that would suggest worse mpg. I'm going to run another tank threw it because maybe i lost some gas when i changed them and maybe that had a little to do with it
second, about my ideling problem, my uncle who is a mechanic suggested that there was a little corrosion underneath the distributer cap were there is a grounding plate? my stuipid repair booke doesn't talk anything about the distributer or even give me a picture so i have no idea what is underneith there. but he suggested that i pull the plate out, sand it lightly and put diod electric grease on it and slap it back together....Is this wise? i'm willing to do it, goodness knows i've done everything else to this blazer trying to fix it........even looked in my air box for dead fish

When you were swapping all of these parts out, did you ever replace the "nut kit", the internal fuel lines? It is very likely that, if you did not, you have a fuel leak internal to the plenum.
Another thing to look at is the internal wiring for the injector.

i would love to get that in my truck i get 14 on my digital read out and it goes down .1 like every 2 weeks lol. Granted its probably my lead foot and the fact the i rarley do highway driving all city miles except on the weekends some times. I go about 200 miles a little less a tank. I also do all the maintence including allways having toped out fluids front and rear dif fluids, synthetic oil. Ive done alot except a tuneup which would probably help.
