Default 2001 Chevy Blazer DRL disable

Ok here goes, ill try to explain exactly what I want. I have a HID system for my low beams, regular halogens for my highs. I tried removing the DRL relay and bending the 87a pin and my lights still come one, I put it back in normal. I ran a 2.2k ohm 1/2 watt resistor in the light sensor in the passenger side speaker grill, bingo, lights dont come on, have to turn them on manually, BUT, when i have them on and i move from park to any drive gear they shut off, only come on when i put it in high beams. So my question is, how do i get my lights to stay off when i start my car, turn on when i click it on the dash, and stay on when i move to a drive gear? Ive been banging my head against the garage door for awhile now hoping some knowledge would magically pop in and help me to fix this issue but to no avail. Im just trying to prevent me from having to re power on my ballasts because when i start my car one flickers and shuts off, its fine when i press the dome over ride button 4 times, but thats a PITA and it still makes me have to shut them off and turn them back on again, Please help, any suggestion would we much appreciated....
