Default 4x4 3 button connector from front diff to??

While changing the water pump, I decided to take a visual at my 4x4 as its inoperable. I found that it wasnt connected to the fron diff, but as I traced it back, found it wrapped around my steering column, and ripped off connector end sitting on my frame.

I know the end that goes to the diff, but I'm unsure on where to start looking for the missing wires that were ripped out of the connector.

any idea?

Wire to front diff(orange end) with ripped off end

Ripped off end with the male connector that wires to the diff

it looks like the wires where ripped right out of the connector cleanly at some point.

No pics for the work, but theres an update.

I pulled apart the plug, you can pull off the blue plastic piece front the end of the female connector. There 2 blue "water seals", one for each wire. They can be pulled out easily.

I re-cut the end of the wires, put the "water seals" on the wires, and put the female connector back together.

once I properly fed the wire away from any moving parts, I connected the ends and tested the buttons to full success.

other then one led not lighting up..........

I also bought a new 3 button switch for the dash a while back, the 2 HI was burnt out... I got it from AutoZone for $35 or $40 bucks, I forget lol... Super easy 2 change, a flat head screwdriver at the top and the middle of the switch and it just pops right out. Wish all repairs were that simple lol!

Thanks. Feels like it shifts into 4x4 alot better now. But that could just be me lol. Does make for an intimidating 2wd for the time it was tho lol.

Funny thing you mentioned that lol, after I installed the new 3 button switch on the dash, I also felt like it worked better lol, like it shifted faster and smoother from 2HI into 4HI... Maybe it is just in my head
